Have you ever found yourself watching a Lotto ad and getting a little invested or choked up? Or wanting to know what’s going to happen next? 

You see what I mean? These guys do such an amazing job of blending storytelling into their advertising. 


When video ads communicate a story to your audience, you’ll generate greater engagement than other forms of video. And this is really important today when audiences have shortened attention spans and are used to flicking through quickfire YouTube Shorts, TikTok videos and Instagram reels.


What we’re really seeing is that when viewers are invested in a storyline they are likely to watch the entire video in order to see what happens next. This benefits you by increasing engagement and viewership of your content.


Another benefit of videos with a storyline is that they can lead to increased brand recall and interest in your brand.


If a potential customer or client resonates with your video, it is likely that they will think of your brand the next time they require your products or services.


While we acknowledge videos that 'tell a story' require more time and financial investment, they can be more rewarding and bring superior results.


We recently put together a video campaign for Christchurch Casino titled #WinningSmile. These videos included an enticing cast of young friends and showcased them having fun in various areas of the casino. Through dialogue, music, casting and costuming we were able to create a powerful, narrative-based video that really resonated with Christchurch Casino's target audience.


The results from this campaign speak for themselves. 

The #WinningSmile video campaign had a 31.8% view rate (WELL above industry benchmarks!)  and got 246,000 views all within the first month of being live.
